Just continuing to set up our new blog, today, I introduce the wedding celebrations of Sevgi and Turgut who were married back in May 2012 at Burton-Upon-Trent Registry Office. The actual event was held over two consecutive days with the Turkish custom celebrations held on Sunday 6th May 2012 at The Tower Ballroom in Birmingham.
5th May saw the civil marriage of Sevgi and Turgut where Sevgi wore a black satin dress with chapel train complimented by a crystal headband and a beautiful bouquet of pink roses. Turgut wore a smart silver grey suit for the occasion. Close family and friends attended the marriage ceremony of which there followed a small party at the nearby Three Queens Hotel also in Burton.
Sev and Turgut are Turkish Cypriots and met each other on holiday in Cyprus. Sev’s parents have been in the UK a very long time establishing many different businesses in parts of the UK before settling near Burton. Turgut’s parents remain in Cyprus. All I can say about Sev and Turgut that they are a lovely couple and we had a great time filming their wedding celebrations. Lots of dancing all night long with some fabulous Turkish traditions such as the Giris (Bridal entrance), Ilk Dans (first dance), Aile Oyunlari (dancing by the bride and groom’s relatives where lots of money is thrown around the people dancing), Testi Oyuno (the breaking of the clay jug by the bride – after all the single ladies and gents have danced with it and finally the Tebrik (gift giving receiving line where guests pin money onto red or white sashes worn by both bride and groom- quite emotional for the bride as she leaves her home now to live with her husband. You can see by watching the video the celebrations that take place and the gathering of family and guests make for one large celebration!
Sevgi wore an ivory satin wedding dress with cathedral layered train delicately encrusted with crystals along the empire line and on each end layer of train. Her dress was finished off with lace to the upper part and it was exclusively designed and made specifically to how Sev wanted it. She looked absolutely stunning. Sev complemented her look with an up do and a double crystal headband completing the look with a cathedral length veil. The bridesmaids all wore black fishtail style dresses with cerise pink lace down one side going over one shoulder and they too all looked stunning. Turgut and his groomsmen all wore traditional tail suits in black with the groomsmen complementing their overall look with cerise pink cravats with Turgut wearing a black cravat. Even the two fathers wore suits with matching ties with the mothers wearing black and cerise pink long dresses.
Photographers on the day were Dave and Emma Nunn of Dave Nunn Studios and great husband and wife team to work with and their work is amazing! We’ve worked with Dave and Emma on a few occasions now and really enjoy it.
