There is always something magical about getting married in December. I myself wanted a December wedding (Christmas Eve actually) but I ended up getting married in February on Leap Year Day. I know its cold, the days are shorter but when you think about it, you have roaring fires, mulled wine, your chosen venue all decorated in its finest splendour to celebrate the coming of Christmas and the New Year. Lots of glitter, the twinkling of fairy lights and the smell of fresh Christmas tress with the most beautiful baubles dangling from its branches. It’s not all turkey and tinsel! Not forgetting your guests; it’s also a great opportunity for the ladies to wear glamorous outfits in the richest of winter colours that just are not suited for the summer. Plus the gentlemen can dig out those dinner jackets making the whole affair very sauve and classicly elegant! I think its a perfect month to get married. Don’t worry about the weather, that’s just something you cannot book no matter on what time of year you’re tying the knot. Don’t just take my word for it, make yourself a cuppa and watch the wedding highlights below that we’ve filmed over the last 5 years! We’ve obviously changed a little as time has gone on filming and equipment wise but that’s what happens, we’re evolving and learning all of the time!
The December weddings that we’ve had the privilege of filming have taken us to some stunning locations within the Midlands. Our first ever winter New Years Eve wedding was filmed at St Peter’s Church, Edensor a small villlage within the Chatsworth Estate, Derbyshire. The Bride on this occasion had chosen to arrive in style with a Pair and Carriage. I still remember the horses names now 5 years on – Hugo & Hero both grey in colour and from Red House Stables based in Darley Dale! After the cerempny it was off to Hassop Hall for the wedding reception. Now this venue is just simply stunning and we’ve done a few weddings there and love it! Full of Christmas festivities and roaring fires, it’s perfect for a December wedding! Often snow too in the Peak District!
Our next December wedding took us to Coventry. Filmed at the Holy Trinity Church near to the Cathedral followed by a reception a short walk away at the St Marys Guild Hall. Another great wedding full of laughter, cheer, emotion and surprises as well as lovely decor and candlelit dinners!
The next December weddings took us to St Mary’s Church, Stretton with a very jovial vicar indeed – she was lovely! After the ceremony the happy couple went off to the Derby Hallmark Hotel for their reception. The Hallmark was beautifully decorated with Christmas trees and decorations.
Our last December wedding took us to The Priest House in Castle Donington. Stunning venue and again lots of Christmas splendour and roaring fires!
