Times are Changing – Embrace the iMac

After a good few years of working on my trusty pc and editing films using on great piece of software (which I will still use, just need to upgrade to a later one), I am finally embracing my iMac!

Some of you will wonder what has taken me so long? The answer clearly is, familiarity but there once a time when editing video footage was a definite no no….. Now I do it all! Forever learning, being creative and following those that inspire me along the way, all these things make me the editor I have become over the last 3 years. It’s not been an easy journey but I wouldn’t change a thing. I’ve learnt so much and yes I’ve made mistakes, I’m human after all and make a mistake once, you learn not to do it again!

So, my next chapter is to familiarise myself with the likes of Lightroom 5, Photoshop (although that’s another post on its own) and finally Final Cut Pro X and all the other bits and bobs associated with it. I have Motion 5, that’s another learning curve but for now, I’m just finding my feet with the workflow of Final Cut Pro X and I have to say, I love it so far! I know its been heavily criticised in the past but seriously now, to me, it’s a great piece of software to edit with. Lots of filmmaking friends of mine either use FCPX or Adobe Premiere, so I guess it’s a bit like marmite, you either love it or hate it.

I shall embrace the change and start to create even more magic in my wedding edits and promotional films for businesses. I have two projects on the go in Final Cut Pro X (FCPX) at the moment, one is the Trailblazers film, shot a month or so back and my current wedding edit! So much fun to be had… right now though, it’s time for bed.

It’s good night from me….Do please keep following for all the latest news of what we’re up to at Midway Media HQ.
